Dr. Alothman qualified at the King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and completed his training in internal medicine and infectious diseases in Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada, from 1992 to 1998.
Dr. Alothman is currently head of Infectious Diseases Division, Department of Medicine, King Abdulaziz Medical City, Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He is a Deputy Chairman, Corporate Antimicrobial Committee, Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs. He is a member in the National Antimicrobial Resistance(AMR) committee in Saudi Arabia. He was a Program Director of the Adult Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program – SCFHS(2008-2018). Dr. Alothman has many published articles to his name. He is on the Honorary Editorial Board of the several journals. He is the Chairman of National Counselling Committee, for Infectious Diseases. Dr. Alothman is a Fellow of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as a member of many professional bodies.
Dr. Alothman is widely invited to speak, lecture and teach at national, regional and international meetings. His special areas of interest are infections in immunosuppressed patients, nosocomial infections, Antifungal therapy clinical research, and HIV-related infections.
